Jens Ferdinand Willumsen (Copenhague, Dinamarca, 1863-1958) fue un artista muy polémico e innovador que se distinguió principalmente como pintor y grabador, aunque abordó también la arquitectura, la escultura, la fotografía y las artes gráficas. Formado inicialmente en la Academia de Arte de Copenhague, fue discípulo de Krøyer. Aunque luego se separaría de éste, las escenas infantiles en la playa muestran claramente esta filiación
